Mine are all tall for their age. I know if they had to sit with their legs scrunched up we would have other medical issues to worry about. Mine were all front facing by one year. My DD is 2 now. If we tried to put her rear facing w'd have a fight on our hands. I know she would hate it and make the ride miserable. I would guess that the noise from an unhappy toddler would become very distracting and possibly put you at risk to get in an accident. Honestly I cringe every time I hear it.
